Northwest Mississippi Community College Campus Identity

Beginning in 2009, my office was contracted to design a comprehensive campus identity for Northwest, including the Senatobia campus, Desoto Center in Southaven, and Lafayette Yalobusha campus in Oxford. The historic McCormick building was chosen as the signature logo image, as it was one of the first buildings built and remains one of the most iconic. To date, Northwest has implemented the identity system on across three campuses and numerous building additions to gain greater recall and brand awareness. Also it is currently applied to the college website, stationery, annual reports, checks, bulletins and most anything digital or printed related to the college on an institutional level. It is a huge honor to have been a part of this project, especially since it is in my hometown.

Work done: Art direction, logo design, illustration, consulting

The building inside the circle is, of course, the McCormick Building. It’s arguably the single most well-known and recognizable building on campus. From the beginning, I felt that it needed to be a dramatic rendering with deep shadows to show off the buildings architectural features. As the design progressed, an angled perspective proved to be the best way to compress more of the building into the circle, and to make it more interesting.

NWCC identity includes the DeSoto Center and Lafayette-Yalobusha campuses.
