Area 51 Ice Cream

I’m excited to finally be able to share this project.
Area 51 Ice Cream in Hernando has been a favorite
small business of mine for a while.

Work Done: Logo, Brand Assets, Packaging

The Brief: Since they first came to Hernando ten years ago, I’ve always appreciated their modern and minimal store aesthetic, their friendly staff and of course their amazing ice cream. Their flavors are pretty unique and they use local farms to supply their ingredients. A while back I did some drawings in my sketchbook about Area 51, not a logo per se but just some fun drawings of aliens eating ice cream and normal stuff like that. That evolved into a few of the things you see in this post. Later on, I contacted the owners, Steve and Karin and showed them some ideas I had about a logo and some slight modifications to their to-go cartons and packaging. They liked what I showed them. I’m really honored that they decided to use and begin to implement them into Area 51. If you haven’t tried their ice cream, go by and experience it this week. Area 51 is located at 100 E Commerce in Hernando.

Carton and to-go bags. The carton was previously just plain with the ice cream flavor written on the top with a Sharpie has been updated with the company name and the Best Ice Cream in Mississippi verbiage. The bag uses a simple rubber stamp to print the logo.
